The publishing industry can feel overwhelming for authors who are new to it. Even if you are an experienced author, you may find struggling to know when your manuscript is ready to show to publishers and agents. Our Author Partner Program offers you a solution—customized just for you.

The program, as its name suggests, is a partnership between you and us. We are selective about whom we partner with, though we offer a free consultation about the viability of a book idea to anyone who wants one. We are big believers in openness and not overpromising. If we don’t think you are a good fit for the program, we will gently let you know but perhaps share some suggestions on what to do next.

Our foundational belief

We believe that a book needs a reason to exist. This might sound obvious, but you’d be surprised how many authors exert themselves to write a book without fully thinking through the business or professional reasons for expending all that effort. We’re not saying that every book has to be a best seller. We’re saying that a successful book is one that achieves the objectives its author set out for it, e.g., to augment one’s professional reputation, to tell an important story, to launch a literary character, and so forth. Our partner program is designed to help you think through these issues and provide the services you need to realize your vision for your book.

Here’s what we’re not

We’re not a vanity press. Yes, we can ghostwrite and publish books according to your specifications. However, our goal is to help you succeed with your book. Our solutions are customized based on your unique needs. You might need light editing, for example, or you might need a complete rewrite by a ghostwriter. We do not have preset packages.  We do not suggest services you don't need to achieve your goals for your book.

Work with us, work with our partners, or do it yourself

We provide some, but not all, of the services in our Author Partner Program. We may refer you to another firm or freelancer if we think you would be best served by their capabilities. We work with several very good editors, for example. We can also work with your favorite people. For example, you may have a cover designer you love. That’s great! We can incorporate his or her design into the project.

Our customized approach

From there, we usually have an introductory meeting, followed by a proposal that lays out our recommendations in detail and provides a budget and contract for delivering the specified services.
